Yay!! I have a new camera
But hey, I hear some of you say, you said that a few weeks ago… Well yes I did, and I now have another new camera. Long story!!
The old new camera was a Canon 5D mk2. I didnt like it, the focus wasnt right and I had heard so many bad stories about them (though for the record some people love the camera) that I took it back. In its place a newly released Canon 7D. Plenty of pros and cons for both cameras, but I thought this one would best compliment my other equipment. So here goes… Some much anticipated pics and a bit of feedback for others interested in the camera.
My first impressions are: (and note I am mainly a studio photographer and this shoot was done outdoors about 5pm this arvo – a little out of my comfort zone!!)
Love the way it feels. The grip, the buttons and menu controls are very schmick
Focus and clarity seems great (I am VERY happy to know I had 2 dud cameras and it wasnt my lenses or user error causing all the issues I was having)
Colours from the RAW files seem very over saturated (more so in some photos than others) but that is easily fixed by adjusting the custom settings. But then, I am not used to green green grass in my photos (no grass in the studio!) so I might find it performs fine in the studio – will test it out there tomorrow.
I know there are some doubts about this cameras image quality but I am fairly happy with the results so far. As I said the test will be tomorrow when I try it out in the studio…
.
For those who had no idea what i was talking about above – hope you enjoy the pictures!!
